    Evan McKeirnan

    Director of Maintenance in Corporation Aviation Management

    Evan McKeirnan's journey in the corporate aviation industry spans nearly three decades, driven by a passion for aviation that began in high school. Growing up in Pomeroy, Washington, he was inspired by the local crop dusting airport, which sparked his interest in aircraft. This early fascination led him to pursue formal education in aviation, attending Spokane Community College, where he earned both his FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificates and an Associate degree in Applied Science—Aviation Maintenance (AAS).

     

    A Foundation in Aviation Maintenance

     

    McKeirnan holds multiple FAA certifications, including Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) with Inspection Authorization (IA), as well as FAA Private Pilot & Third-Class Medical (PP-ASEL) and FAA Small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) Remote Pilot credentials. His education and training have been extensive, with programs at FlightSafety International, where he gained expertise in Gulfstream G450 and G550 systems. Over the years, Evan has been recognized with various industry honors, such as the FAA Silver and Bronze Awards, the AMT Society’s “NextGen 40 under 40” Award, and the FlightSafety Savannah’s Top Troubleshooter and Master Technician awards for his exceptional work in aviation maintenance.

     

    Early Career and Building Expertise

     

    In 1999, shortly after completing his studies, McKeirnan took on the role of Crew Chief for Gulfstream GII, GIII, GIV, and GV aircraft in Van Nuys, California. This position marked the beginning of a career that would see him work on some of the most sophisticated aircraft in corporate aviation. Evan then moved into the Chief Inspector and Nose Abatement Representative role at Van Nuys Airport, where he worked on various aircraft models, including Gulfstream, Learjet, and Challenger series.

     

    As his career progressed, Evan expanded his responsibilities, working for companies such as EJI (NetJets) and AAM fleet aircraft and taking on roles like West Coast Maintenance Manager for Presidential Aviation. His growing expertise eventually led him to become Director of Maintenance at Jet Edge International, overseeing Gulfstream aircraft, including the GIII, GIV, GV, G200, G450, and G550, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with safety regulations.

     

    Leadership in Maintenance and Inspection

     

    Evan’s career saw him rise to leadership roles, notably as Chief Inspection and Maintenance Supervisor at Western Jet Aviation in Van Nuys. In this capacity, he managed the Inspection Department, ensuring the quality and safety of the fleet. Evan also served as the Acting Director of Maintenance for several Gulfstream Part 91 aircraft, overseeing all aspects of maintenance, including budgets, projections, and regulatory compliance. His leadership extended to creating and implementing various manuals, such as the Repair Station and Quality Control Manual, which helped improve operational efficiency and safety standards.

     

    Evan’s extensive experience in maintenance management also included his tenure as Director of Maintenance at Prime Jet in Englewood, Colorado. There, he oversaw 14 Gulfstream aircraft based across the United States and Singapore, developing avionics compliance packages and contributing to safety management improvements through evolving regulatory requirements.

     

    A Diverse Career in Aircraft Management

     

    Evan McKeirnan’s technical expertise has been complemented by his ability to manage diverse operations. He worked as Director of Maintenance at Aero Cadre/Monza Aviation, overseeing the completion of a newly delivered Gulfstream G550. His responsibilities included managing aircraft completion, including contract review, painting, cabin furnishing, and customer acceptance. He also managed a collection of 37 classic and exotic cars alongside aircraft maintenance.

     

    Additionally, Evan served as Project Manager—Special Missions at Springfield Air Defense and Chief Inspector for Springfield Aircraft Chart and Sales, where he supervised maintenance for a global fleet of aircraft, including Cessna CJ4s and a Gulfstream GVII-G600. His leadership in regulatory compliance and audits ensured the fleet operated according to FAA and international standards.

     

    Current Role and Continuing Education

     

    Today, McKeirnan is the Maintenance Supervisor at Solairus Aviation, a private jet charter and aircraft management company based in Van Nuys. In this role, he oversees scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, and aircraft management, ensuring the fleet’s continued safety and airworthiness.

     

    Evan remains committed to lifelong learning and regularly seeks new opportunities for professional development. He has completed courses in Gulfstream GVI-G650 Engine Run & Taxi and Gulfstream GVI-G650 Maintenance with Systems Integration and additional training in airport signage, aircraft handling, and company-specific operational procedures. His dedication to expanding his skill set helps ensure he remains at the forefront of the industry.

     

    Giving Back to the Aviation Community

     

    Throughout his career, Evan has intensely mentored and supported the next generation of aviation professionals. He actively participates in the FAAST team, assisting aspiring A&Ps with school placements, job searches, and testing preparation. Evan has also spoken to students at Spokane Community College, sharing his experiences and providing guidance to help them navigate the aviation industry.

     

    A Passion for Offroad Motorcycling

     

    Outside of aviation, McKeirnan has a long-standing passion for off-road motorcycling. For over 20 years, he has competed in the AMA District 37 Grand Prix and Desert series, winning numerous races and competing in various classes, including Senior/40+ 251cc+, Evolution, and Revolution. His dedication to offroad racing mirrors his commitment to aviation, requiring precision, focus, and a drive to excel.
